Raised in California’s Bay Area, Marya Spence graduated from Harvard, where she was Fiction Editor for The Advocate. She has worked at The New Yorker, PAPER, Travel & Leisure, Vanity Fair, Publishers Weekly, and more. After getting her MFA at NYU, she joined Janklow & Nesbit with a passion to represent emergent writers of fiction and nonfiction, literary novels and collections, and voice-driven cultural criticism. She is an agent who values craft from the writer’s perspective.
