Kate Racculia is a writer and freelancer who called Boston home for many years and currently resides in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She is the author of two novels, the most recent of which, Bellweather Rhapsody, was published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 2014 and named a 2015 Alex Award winner. Alex Awards recognize novels written for adults for having special appeal to teenagers. Her first novel, This Must Be the Place, was named a 2011 Must Read by the Massachusetts Center for the Book. 

Kate studied illustration, design, Jane Austen, and Canada at the University of Buffalo. She has her MFA from Emerson College, is a manuscript consultant and itinerant instructor at Grub Street, and has taught at Salem State University and Lafayette College. She has been a bookseller, a planetarium operator, a coffee jerk, a designer, a proposal writer, a prospect researcher, an interlibrary loan technician, and a bassoonist.
